THE SEXIEST version ever of Lady Chatterley's Lover is set to shock at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival which starts today.

The play, based on D H Lawrence's classic naughty novel, will feature full-frontal nudity and simulated sex scenes.

The part of Lady Chatterley is being played by 19-year-old Leona George, whose last acting role was as a dancer in a Bollywood film. She said last night: "The two productions couldn't be more different as there is no nudity in the Bollywood film This is Your House, This is My House.

"But Lady Chatterley begins and ends with me standing nude in front of the audience while I examine my body. It is a difficult thing to do." And Wolverhampton-born Leona added: "I have four sex scenes with Rob Dent who plays my lover, the gamekeeper Mellors. Creating an on-stage chemistry was very awkward when we first started rehearsing as we are both naked and have very intimate scenes."

"But there is more to it than just sex as there is an emphasis on what is happening inside the characters.

""And the end of the play differs from the book as Lady Chatterley takes control of her life and realises she doesn't need Mellors or her husband."The Midland Actors Theatre has broken with their normal school and community centre tours to perform in Edinburgh.

Artistic director David Allen said: "The play is lyrical and erotic - we have not gone for pornographic explicitness."

ENIGMA, the first film rock star Mick Jagger has produced, will have its premiere in Edinburgh on August 18. Guests will include the film's stars, Kate Winslet, Dougray Scott, Jeremy Northam, Saffron Burrows and Michael Apted.
