ENIGMATIC BALDWIN June 2, 2001
Apparently, their first acquisition could be a hot property. At a party at Ian Schrager's Paramount Hotel the other night, Baldwin told the Post that while in Cannes a couple of weeks ago, he bought the U.S. rights to the Mick Jagger-produced Enigma. (Saturday Light Live boss Lorne Michaels is a co-producer.) Written by Tom Stoppard with a $2-million budget, the movie stars Kate Winslet and Dougray Scott, and was well received at Sundance, but major distributors passed, saying it was "too British."
