ENIGMATIC BALDWIN
June 2, 2001

Stephen BaldwinAfter spending several weeks here recently, shooting Greenmail, then Slapshot 2, Steven Baldwin is back in New York, where the tabloid New York Post says the youngest of the four acting siblings has formed a distribution company with fellow actor Danny Aiello.

Apparently, their first acquisition could be a hot property.

At a party at Ian Schrager's Paramount Hotel the other night, Baldwin told the Post that while in Cannes a couple of weeks ago, he bought the U.S. rights to the Mick Jagger-produced Enigma. (Saturday Light Live boss Lorne Michaels is a co-producer.)

Written by Tom Stoppard with a $2-million budget, the movie stars Kate Winslet and Dougray Scott, and was well received at Sundance, but major distributors passed, saying it was "too British."
