Alan Parker to Film in Barcelona

BARCELONA. - The Alan Parker movie, The Life of David Gale, will film in Barcelona. The director of well known films like Midnight Express, Mississippi Burning and Angela's Ashes has decided to roll part of his new movie in the City Condal, as indicated yesterday by Barcelona Plató, the City Hall office, in charge of managing the cinematic filming. The British director will not come alone. He will be accompanied by the protagonists of the film: Kevin Spacey, winner of the Oscar in 1999 for American Beauty, and two time Oscar nominee Kate Winslet.
The filming of The Life of David Gale will begin in United States toward the month of March, and is foreseen that the artistic and technical equipment of the film, headlinee by Parker, will be in the city to ends of the March. According to Barcelona Plató, Parker is "a lover of the City Condal, and wants some symbols of Barcellona to have a noticeable appearance in their production". And he mentions, a likely filming locale - The Great Theatre of the Liceu, where one of the scenes passes of films; concretely during the representation of "Turandot", Puccini.
The film tells the life story of David Gale, a University of Texas profesor who fights for the abolition of the death penalty. Gale is accused of the kidnapping and murder of a fellow activist. The film, formally, is constructed from a flash-backs game, by means of which Gale (Kevin Spacey) is explaining his history to a journalist who visits him in prison.
