Disney adapts the Mark Twain novel "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" for today's gum-chewing, rock-listening generation. Calvin Fuller (played by Thomas Ian Nicholas) is called upon to save Camelot from the evil Lord Belascoe by Merlin. Merlin calls for a heroic knight to save the kingdom and receives a kid from the 20th century who plays for the Knights (a local baseball team). Along the way he trains to be a knight, rescues his loved-one Princess Catherine, and help to restore King Arthur's confidence in himself. Personal Thoughts: This film is like many other Disney flicks with the sometimes all-too-obvious jokes, medieval talk mixed with American slang and more. With a target audience of children this film doesn't do too bad at being entertaining. Ms. Winslet is a breath of fresh air as the older Princess Sarah. She does add quite a bit to the film, and I found it fun to watch. Look for Kate to have more of a part in the overall outcome of the film than expected, and find a sweet rose in the younger princess Catherine (played by Paloma Baeza). Trivia: This film still hasn't been released in France (November 1999). Kate was actually asked if she could "lose more weight" two weeks before the filming and got sick doing so. At last report, Kate Winslet had still not seen this film and had no wish to do so.
