Synopsis: Brought to life by Aardman Animations’, the creators of award-winning films ‘Chicken Run’ and ‘The Wallace and Gromit Movie’. The tale centres around Kate’s character, Rita, who befriends an upper-class society rat, played by Jackman, after he is flushed out of his swanky London flat and into the sewer city of Ratropolis.

While he tries to survive without life’s luxuries, Rita tries to help him find his way home. Meanwhile, the pair are forced to try and save the city from an evil toad, played by Ian McKellen.

The story starts when Iris meets her future husband John Bayley. It is based on the biographical work by John Bayley.

Synopsis: This adaptation, of Charles Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’, is framed by Dickens recounting the story to an excited New York theatre audience. It combines live action sequences with animation and is set to music. It has been ‘updated’ to appeal to more audiences. Voice talents include, Kate Winslet, Simon Callow, Nicolas Cage, and Juliet Stevenson.

Synopsis: The story covers the life of the Marquis de Sade. The Marquis is in an asylum when the movie takes place and Ms. Winslet’s character is a laundress who work in the asylum. She helps to get de Sade’s writings out to the people. Joaquin Phoenix, and Michael Caine also star. Geofrey Rush will be starring as de Sade. There is a sort of love triangle between de Sade (Rush), Madeline le Clerc (Winslet), and de Coulemer (Phoenix). Kate has said that the film is much more funny than you would think. The film is considered dark as well. The film is currently on post-production. Filming finished the last week of October 1999.

Plunge

Synopsis: Plunge is a story set out to be like the cult classic Trainspotting about four “nowhere men of the Nineties . . . fighting unemployment, boredom and depression” whose fates change when one finds a surfboard in a dustbin. This inspires the men to travel to the Cornish Coast where they meet Claire, Kate Winslet, a roadsweeper.

Status: Kate’s scenes were filmed in October of 1997 and the last information on it’s release indicated a 2002 date, which has since proved to be false. The film now has an official website at PlungetheMovie.com.

The Black Hole

The Widdow Claire

Synopsis: During WWII a widdow has to choose between the town playboy and a young soldier getting ready to go to war.

Status: Anounced. Robert Altman was quoted in an interview saying that Kate Winslet will be starring in his next film. No information on shooting schedules or Variety confirmation.

The Marvelous Mabel Stark

Synopsis: The Marvelous Mabel Stark is a film to be based on the fiction book about the real person Mabel Stark. The Robert Hough book kind of takes liberties with certain events and goes by facts when possible. Mabel was the most famous female tiger tamer in the grand days of the circus in the 1920’s. Her acts are the basis of many tiger tamers techniques today.

Status: Kate Winslet was quoted on this role before the script was written. The official site says this will film in Summer 2005 and that Kate Winslet is still attached.

The Magician’s Wife

Synopsis:

Status: According to the producers of this film it is currently shelved. Originally they had hoped to secure Kate Winslet and a new male actor for the film to be made in 2003. It has since, however, lost hopes of being made. They tell us that they do not know when/if the film will be realized.

Thérèse Raquin

“This is a tale of true passion. A married woman is in love with another man and together they plot to kill the husband. It’s passion that drives them to it.”

Status: Currently unknown. Ms. Winslet mentioned an end of year production for the film in 2002. There is now a production of Therese Raquin listed at Hollywood Stock Exchange and the IMDB starring Franke Potente and Joseph Fiennes. It is unknown if it is the same production, as the director has also changed.
