Thank you so much Corey Ann for a summary of an interview on the red carpet with Kate Winslet.

Kate Winslet arrives for the Screen Actors Guild Awards

The interview dude said hello and Kate greeted him back. He took a glance at her dress and mentioned that he had heard that Kate was a bit nervous about how revealing the dress was. Kate smiled and told him that it was but she didn't care because it was leather and she Loves wearing leather. She then said if it rains I can just wipe it off! She said that people always either hate or love what she wears but she doesn't care anymore because she's comfortable and that's all that matters. She goes on to mention that she is alone tonight and Jim and Mia are back home in England and she misses them terribly.

The interviewer mentions that she's nominated tonight and she says that she was completely flattered and surprised considering she was passed up on all other award shows. The interviewer then said that she has already won a SAG award and she said yes for Sense and Sensibility. She said that she does NOT expect to win tonight, she expects Kate Hudson to win tonight and "she deserves it."

Kate the Great
British thespian Kate Winslet makes a great entrance in a luscious leather dress at the Screen Actors Guild Awards — without a trace of any extra pounds from her recent pregnancy. And is the leather dress a tribute to the film that got her a SAG nod, the sadistic Quills?

The Show

Kate Winslet presented the Support Actor Award for Albert Finney, the SAG Award site posted this as his 'acceptance speech'. LOL.

LAURA LINNEY: And the Actor® goes to Albert Finney. [applause] Albert Finney couldn't be here tonight.

KATE WINSLET: [overlapping] Albert Finney couldn't be here tonight. So we are proudly accepting this award on his behalf.

Why the Screen Actors Guild Awards are unique.

Lauded by critics for its style, simplicity and genuine warmth, the Screen Actors Guild Awards has become one of the industry’s most prized honors. The only televised awards shows to exclusively honor performers, it presents thirteen awards for acting in film and television in a fast moving two hour show which airs live on TNT. The awards focus on both individual performances as well as on the work of the entire ensemble of a drama series and comedy series, and the cast of a motion picture. These awards are fundamental to the spirit of the Screen Actors Guild Awards because they recognize what all actors know – that acting is a collaborative art.
