Oscar Predictions
March 21, 2002
This is a quote from one of the top Oscar prognasticators in the world, Tom O'Neill of Goldderby.com and often seen on E! Television.
He says:
"WE PREDICT: Jennifer Connelly is out front because she plays the same role as
last year's champ (Marcia Gay Harden in Pollock): the devoted wife of a
tortured genius. She's also a babe, which helps. But she is facing another
babe in this race: Kate Winslet, who is a knockout, dramatically and
beauty-wise, in Iris. However, don't discount veteran British thespian Helen
Mirren, who recently won the SAG Award, or her Gosford Park costar Maggie
Smith, who plays the same kind of brief, defiant role that earned Judi Dench
an Oscar for Shakespeare in Love. This race is closer than most people think,
but our bet's on Connelly."
