Winslet's Daughter Takes First Steps in Public

Kate Winslet's current trip to Los Angeles has proved to be an historic one - her daughter Mia has taken her first steps in public. The 16-month old struck out on her own after escaping her pushchair on a shopping trip with her actress mother - who was ecstatic at Mia's confident walk-about.

An eyewitness says, "It was very sweet. Mia seemed fascinated by the fountain and darted off towards it. Kate looked surprised but delighted. She ran after her and kissed her on the head. "

Winslet went on to show she is a proud Brit after leaving the trendy Santa Anthropologie (corr) store in Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade, with a mini Union Jack flag, which she gave to her daughter to display in her pushchair.
