KATE WINS-IT IS TOPS AGAIN
February 3, 2002

CURVY Kate Winslet was named Best Actress last night at the Evening Standard British Film Awards.

Kate, 25 - who arrived at the awards ceremony in a risque see-through black top with cutaway shoulders - lifted the top award for her performances in Iris, Enigma and Quills.

Linus Roache took the Best Actor gong at the awards, attended by Scots actor Ewan McGregor and his wife Eve.

But the real star of the show in London was screen horror legend Christopher Lee, whose contribution to the UK's film industry was recognised with a special achievement award.

The 79-year-old actor's career has spanned over half a century and includes more than 200 movies.

Many of his most memorable roles were in the Hammer horror films in which he played Frankenstein's Monster and Dracula.

But he is also known to a new generation of movie-goers as Saruman the White in the recent blockbuster, Lord Of The Rings.
