Kate Winslet picks up Los Angeles Critics' award

Kate Winslet at the LA Film Critics Awards

Kate Winslet has collected her award for Best Supporting Actress from the Los Angeles Critics' Association.

Winslet was presented with the accolade for her role in Iris at the awards dinner in Santa Monica.

Other winners at the awards included Sissy Spacek, Denzel Washington and David Lynch.

Lynch thanked film critics for the "buzz" surrounding his film Mulholland Drive as he joked by playing a tape recording of noisy "buzz" at the ceremony.

He was named Best Director for the film.

Laura Elena Harring and Naomi Watts, who star in Mulholland Drive, were also at the awards.

Director Todd Field accepted the award for Best Picture for In The Bedroom.

Among the other stars at the awards were William Mapother, Marisa Tomei and Nick Stahl, who also star in In The Bedroom.

Kate wins LA Film Critics' Award

KATE WINSLET is celebrating today after receiving an award for best supporting actress for her role in the movie Iris, after missing out in the Golden Globes.

The British actress was presented with the accolade at the Los Angeles Film Critics' 27th Annual Achievement awards in Santa Monica, California, last night.

Miss Winslet, 26, was nominated in the Golden Globe awards for her role as a young Iris Murdoch in Iris, but failed to win.
