"Golden Camera" for Ricky Martin and Kate Winslet
Berlin (Reuters) - The Popstar Ricky Martin and the actress Kate Winslet will recieve next Thursday, in Berlin, the movie and TV award “Golden Camera”. Latin-singer Martin will also perform during the gala in the concert hall „Am Gendarmenmarkt“ his new song "Nobody wants to be lonely", reported the Axel-Springer Publishing Company who’s magazine "Hörzu" has given away the “Golden Camera” since 1965. The Puertorican travels with 18 companions in a private jet, said the host Beate Wedekind on Wednesday in Berlin. Among them are reportedly two hair dressers and one make up artist. Kate Winslet on the other hand comes in with a regular airline and only brings her husband and her child.
The Britisch actress ("Titanic", "Sense and Sensibility") will stay a few days in Berlin. She will present her new movie „Quills“during the Berlin film festival which starts on Wednesday.
The winners of the "Golden Camera", one of the most important German movie and TV awards, were chosen by a jury made up of the magazine "Hörzu"'s editorial staff. Chief Editor and jury member Michael Lohmann pointed out that this year, only one Golden Camera goes to the production of a privately owned TV station: Günther Jauch will receive the prize for his moderation in the quizshow "Wer wird Millionär?" [trans.: who will be a millionaire]. All the other winning productions are from the publicly owned broadcasting networks. This is a proof of quality for the public channels, said Lohmann.
The Axel-Springer publishing company already announced last week that next to Jauch, the actress Christiane Hörbiger and Peter Ustinov are to be counted this year to the winners. More Golden Cameras go to the TV-comic Dirk Bach ("Lukas"/ZDF) and the pop-singer Sasha. A Golden Camera is given by the readers of "Hörzu". This year, the readers had the choice between the 64 main actors of the ARD-Thriller series "Tatort". The winning duo of the always investigating together detectives from the show will only be announced on the evening of the ceremony. The winner of the “Lilli-Palmer-Memorial-Camera” which rewards the best new young actress will not be disclosed either. The winner will be lured to the show, said Lohmann.
The Golden Camera will be awarded for the 36th time this year. The actress Desiree Nosbusch will host the gala with 850 invited guest. A recording will be broadcast on Friday next week by ZDF.
