Kate set to bring Faraway Folk to life

ENCHANTED: Kate Winslet records the Enid Blyton books that brought magic to her childhood

TOYTOWN heroes Noddy and Big Ears had better watch out.

Their mantle as Enid Blyton's best-loved characters is set for a challenge from some of the author's other creations - Saucepan Man and Moon Face.

Actress Kate Winslet is set to bring to life the characters of Blyton's trilogy - The Enchanted Wood, The Magic Faraway Tree and The Folk of the Faraway Tree - by turning the classic stories into audio books.

"These were really the favourite books from my childhood," said Kate. "It just occurred to me one day to find out what had happened to them."

The first to appear will be The Enchanted Wood, which is set for a Christmas release.Enid Blyton Company's head of publishing, Ian Wallace, described Kate as "brilliant", and went on: "She is an amazing reader, very professional."
