Kate goes nude for Jude!

Sexy actress Kate Winslet yesterday told how she was terrified at having to bare all for her latest film.

The 20-year-old gets her kit off as the feisty heroine in Jude, which was filmed in Edinburgh and the north of England.

Kate said she starved herself for a month before filming because she feared her bum was too big and her boobs saggy.

The star, Oscar-nominated for her role in Sense and Sensibility, said: "I went through all the paranoia's - my bum's massive, my breasts are saggy, I've got a spotty back.

"But I just kept remembering the scene was a real turning point in the story and to get on with it.

"At the end of the day, you forget you're naked."

The film, based on Thomas Hardy's novel Jude The Obscure, is due out in the autumn. Edinburgh's New Town, George Heriot's School and Greyfriars Kirkyard all feature in the film.

The Royal Mile was shut off for two weekends for filming of a parade with 500 extras.

Production designer Joseph Bennett said surprisingly little had to be done to make the city look like a late 19th century setting.

He said: "It's architecturally brilliant."
