We asked the award-winning actress, who’s also the face of Lancôme Trésor fragrance, to comment on her beauty hits (and misses) over the years.

1998: AT THE BROADCAST FILM CRITICS AWARDS, LOS ANGELES

“Whoa! My face sure has changed a hell of a lot. I’m not aging too badly! I look better older than I did younger—I mean, I definitely do. I’m sure it has a lot to do with losing weight over the years, but I’ve grown into my face. And I’ve done nothing—I haven’t changed anything about myself. [Wiggles face] See, nothing funny there.”

1999: WITH THEN-HUSBAND JAMES THREAPLETON AT THE HIDEOUS KINKY PREMIERE, NEW YORK CITY

“Bless my heart. Well, my boobs look good. Yeah, that was my short haircut—I hated it. I would never do it again. You have to do short hair. It’s like a nightmare. It’s just not flattering to my face shape—at all.”

2006: AT A LITTLE CHILDREN PRESS CONFERENCE, NEW YORK CITY

“I was going for relaxed, I guess. I don’t believe in necessarily looking camera-ready for a Q&A event like that. You don’t want the audience to feel like they are talking to a movie star. The sweater is a Nicole Farhi men’s black sweater. And I can tell you that I am wearing Dolce & Gabbana jeans, and the reason why I know that is because it’s a great pair of jeans.”

2008: AT THE READER PREMIERE, NEW YORK CITY

“Oh, my God. This was a damn fine look, this was. I had just gotten back from vacation in the Turks and Caicos islands, and I was all nice and tan, and my hair had gone blonder. I don’t lie out in the sun, and I always wear a high sun factor, so this was literally just wandering around in the sun for a week, chasing after the kids and making sure nobody drowned in the sea.”

2009: AT THE SCREEN ACTORS GUILD AWARDS, LOS ANGELES

“I haven’t seen any pictures of this—it’s really nice! Not looking overdone is very important to me. Just having nice, clean, fresh skin, and looking sort of occasion- and age-appropriate. If you have too much makeup on, you can really feel uncomfortable. This is just very relaxed. It’s the SAG Awards, so it’s important to look your best, but not to look… It’s not the Academy Awards, it’s not the Golden Globes, you know.”
